Introducing the first stretch goal: the regal jumping spider!

Long under-appreciated, the humble jumping spider has recently become a social media darling. These charming little arachnids have stolen the internet's heart with their forward-facing eyes, little kitten paws, compact fluffy bodies, and engaging personalities. But more than just being cute as all get-out, they're also biologically fascinating: they are known to dream, and their eyes are good enough to see the moon and stars.

This pin, if unlocked, will represent a male regal jumping spider, Phiddipus regius, as a 1.5" tall pin with black nickel metal, hard enamel fill, screenprinted details, silicone clutches, and a back stamp of authenticity.

Three weeks ago, disaster struck: one of our kittens got up onto the top of my desk hutch, performed a "death from above" maneuver, sent a bottle of water flying, and thereby completely flooded my laptop, instantly bricking it.

Reader, most of my graphics for this project, among many other irreplaceable files, were not yet backed up to the cloud. I tried every trick in the book to get it to boot up. I got quoted up to $3700 to have someone retrieve the data, which I absolutely do not have. To say that I was distraught would be an understatement.

But that's no reason to give up, so once I got my replacement laptop set up and my saved files downloaded from storage, I got back to work making all new graphics!
